In-depth Research on Matching Technology of Resins and Additives
The core of coatings and inks formula design is good matching between base resins and additives, and research on interfacial compatibility becomes a key R&D direction. Molecular structure and polarity of resins determine interactions with additives. Excessive polarity difference causes additive migration and precipitation, leading to gloss loss and tackiness. Molecular modification adjusts polarity and improves affinity. In production, formula samples go through accelerated storage, thermal cycling and aging tests to evaluate long-term stability. Acrylic, alkyd, unsaturated polyester and epoxy systems match different additive types. Epoxy curing systems demand higher chemical inertness of additives, while unsaturated polyester requires assessment of additive interference on curing reaction. In application, well-matched systems reduce floating of coatings and weak dots of inks and improve appearance and durability. Industrial knowledge accumulates a reference library of additive selection for different resin systems and shortens formula development cycles. Growing demand for high-end anti-corrosion, outdoor weather-resistant and food package printing drives technical breakthroughs in matching. New high-performance formulas of coatings and inks will be developed to support high-quality development of fine chemical coating industry.
